Area of Application

Micro-organisms such as algae, bacteria and fungi encounter ideal living conditions in many water-bearing systems. An unchecked micro-biological growth leads in most cases to operational disturbances in a short time and occasionally to severe corrosion damages. A reliable control of the population of micro-organisms is, therefore, an indispensable part of water treatment.

The scope of required control is dependent on the type of water-bearing systems: In open cooling circuits there is a sedimentation-free mode of operation. Additional requirements from the viewpoint of hygiene are to be considered in Klimawäschern. Control of anaerobic bacteria plays an important role in closed circuits. In circuits with cutting oil- or boring emulsions, a satisfactory protection of active agents from bacteriological decomposition is in the forefront. The type and scope of the required treatment is, therefore, dependent on the type of problem. Ecological and toxicological effects as well as the compatibility with other active components is also to be considered here.
